Was macht die besondere Wirkung der Sprache von Wolf Haas in seinen Simon-Brenner-Romanen aus? Wie lässt sich seine Literatursprache beschreiben? Welche Wörter, Satz- und Textstrukturen verwendet er? Diesen Fragen widmet sich die vorliegende Arbeit. Die Untersuchung des vollständig digitalisierten Corpus beinhaltet sowohl quantitative als auch qualitative Analysen und verläuft von einer Betrachtung der Mikrostruktur einzelner Wörter bis hin zur Makrostruktur der textuellen Verknüpfung. Damit wird über die Ebenen der Morphologie, Lexik, Syntax und Textualität die Sprache und ihre Stilqualität als Ganzes in ihrer Wirkung erfasst.
Dabei soll gezeigt werden, dass der besondere Reiz der Sprache in den Simon-Brenner-Romanen im Spannungsverhältnis von fingierter Mündlichkeit und Schriftlichkeit begründet liegt. Die Wirkung beruht allerdings nicht auf einer alleinigen Imitation von Mündlichkeit in der Sprache, sondern auf deren überzeichneten Stilisierung. Der scheinbar spielerische Wechsel von Nähe und Distanz ist das, was die Sogwirkung dieser Sprache ausmacht.
